One of the largest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Palmero is divided into three areas:
• Palermo Chico (or Barrio Parque) is one of the most exclusive and expensive zones of the city, where many diplomats reside. It encompasses the Avenues Figueroa Alcorta, between Tagle and San Martín de Tours.The Museum of Decorative Art is located on Avenida Libertador and Pereyra Lucena. Other sights are the American Embassy, as well as the embassies of Chile, Uruguay and Spain; the central offices of the Automobile Club (Avenue Libertador and Austria); and the Church of San Martín de Tours, the patron saint of the city of Buenos Aires.
• Palermo Viejo is the oldest part of Palermo; its buildings are different and the streets and cafés have a bohemian air. It is well known for its bookstores and trendy restaurants.
• Palermo is famous for the Woods of Palermo, acres of lakes, gardens, and woods, bordered around the Avenues Libertador, Salguero, Rafael Obligado and Pampa. You can visit the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Planetarium, the Zoo, the Botanical Garden (Santa Fe and Las Heras) with over 7000 different species of plants, the Sociedad Rural Argentina (Avenues Sarmiento and Santa Fe), the Polo Grounds, the Racetrack and the Municipal Airport.
